LASARx: LASA and High-Alert Medication Safety Game

LASARx provides quiz games to practise look-alike and sound-alike recognition, high-alert safeguards, and independent medication double-checks.

Educational Purpose

LASARx focuses on medication safety. It helps learners rehearse the judgement needed to recognise look-alike or sound-alike risks and apply practical safeguards before harm occurs.

The app is part of the PharmaNUS collection of free pharmacology learning webapps, which are developed and updated in response to learner feedback for students and medical and health professions learners.

What Learners Practise

  • Look-alike and sound-alike medicine recognition
  • High-alert medication safeguards
  • Independent double-check habits
  • Medication safety reasoning in short clinical situations

How To Play

  1. Select a LASA or medication-safety quiz mode.
  2. Review the drug names, safety prompts, or brief scenario.
  3. Choose the safest match, action, or safeguard.
  4. Read the feedback and note the risk cue.
  5. Replay to improve speed and safety recognition.

Use In Teaching

LASARx can be used as a short independent practice activity, a warm-up before class, a revision task after teaching, or a prompt for small-group discussion. It works best when paired with debriefing, explanation, and connection back to core pharmacology concepts.
